Rubber Track Failure - Never Allow Your Operators To Follow These Steps

We don't recommend ever doing this, it will lead to rubber track failure.

So, have you ever wondered why your new rubber tracks are wearing prematurely?

1. You 'never' check your track tension.

Track tension on your machine can require adjustment over time, especially if you are operating on varied terrain. By never checking your track tension, you’ll never know if your tracks are on too tight or too loose. This will result in premature track failure.

2. You ride around as fast as you can and do lots of reversing.

Operating your machine at a high speed increases the wear and tear on your rubber tracks. If  you are travelling at higher speeds than necessary the tracks (and undercarriage components) will wear faster. The rubber track’s links only rotate against the sprocket teeth when you are operating your machine in reverse, this will achieve premature wear and tear on the tracks and undercarriage.

3. When maneuvering your machine at a job site, never only turn the same direction.

Turning your machine the same direction over and over will create an uneven wear pattern on the tracks.  A surefire way to wear out your set of tracks evenly, this will ultimately lead to premature track failure, but perhaps only on one side.

4. When your rubber tracks are off of the machine and in storage, never keep them in direct sunlight if at all possible.

Tracks are made of rubber. Storing them exposed to maximum heat and light will weaken them over time while not being used. This means that when you go to put them on again, you will have a much greater chance of having one break on you unexpectedly.

5. Horseplay, do not do donuts.

0˚ turns on a machine, they are a very efficient way to wear down your rubber tracks and undercarriage parts. This puts unnecessary stress and strain on the machine.

Hopefully some of these tips are helpful to you if you 'never' want to wear down your new set of tracks as quickly as possible.
